The new Honda Civic Type R is a next-generation hatchback that’s driving car enthusiasts wild. With track-ready performance, this prototype model is set to be released at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Not only does this model showcase the best in Honda engineering, it also offers insight into next generation of Honda vehicles.
According to Honda, the new Type R model comes with a muscular new look, with a lightweight design and improved aerodynamics. Brushed aluminum accents the exterior, while added air-intake ducts improve performance and efficiency. Plus, with carbon-fiber body panels, this model is lighter than ever before.
“We promised the most ambitious, sportiest Civic lineup ever and we’re delivering on that promise with each new Civic,” said Dave Gardner, senior vice president of the Honda Canada Inc. “For the first time ever in Canada, Honda fans and enthusiasts will have access to the ultimate in Civic performance in the form of the new Type R.”
This next-generation model was developed by the Honda R&D teams in Japan and Europe. Other great features include things like three tailpipes, high-performance tires, red accents, and a large rear wing for added aerodynamics. There’s nothing quite like the new Honda Civic Type R prototype. We can’t wait to see it in action.
